Cassity, Christy, & Calista Turner |
Man, looking at this picture of Callie and Cassie and they are almost as tall as me. When did this happen? Seriously tho. Also looking at this picture it makes me smile. What a fun girls weekend we had.

Callie, Cassie and I drove to our Deer Lease in Priddy Texas Friday night dodging the tornado's all around us. The weather was pretty sketchy a couple of times, but we made it safe and sound. It was 81 degrees when I left work back in Athens Friday evening and when we woke up Saturday morning in Priddy it was freezing! Literally!! Crazy Texas weather...
The girls and I drove to Becky Lou's Heart of Texas Ladies Spring Turkey Hunt at the Fojtasek Ranch in Winchell Texas. We ate a delicious brunch at the camp house with the eight enthusiastic women hunters. A couple of the ladies went back out to the turkey blinds to try and fill their tags after they filled their bellies and the rest of us hung out taking pictures with the turkeys that were harvested.
Becky Lou telling the girls to watch their steps with the loose rocks. It was a long way down on the other side of that ridge and it looked like rattle snake dens everywhere.
This is the coolest swing ever that Jerry the Ranch Manager has on his porch.
We just wanted to try it out and see if it is as cool as we thought.
Yes, yes it was just as cool as we thought 😜
Inside the camp house, I noticed I made the wall with my Turkey I shot last year at this same ladies hunt!! (The bottom left) Jerry has done such a good job making the hunters cabin so nice!
We were lucky enough we got to spend several hours visiting with the ladies. I was holding back tears when Becky Lou and Dave our camp cook was trying to help me find the best way back to Priddy. I didnt want to leave. We had so much fun telling stories and laughing and eating some of Daves amazing banana pudding!! Dave did hook the girls and I up with some left over fried fish and beans to go, but I forgot to get a to go cup of that pudding, but we did get some buttermilk pie to go!
Sunday morning I let the girls sleep in as I sipped on some coffee. The wind finally settled down but it was still chilly and foggy. I went out scouting for a turkey. I never saw one, but I heard a gobbler and he would respond to my every call, but would never come out. So I decided I was going in after him. After moving a little closer, and talking back and forth and moving a little more closer, I realized he was on the other side of the fence on the neighbors property. After about a 30 minute conversation it was obvious he was not coming my way.
I walked back to camp and the girls had everything already cleaned up and packed up in the truck to go. That was such a special treat for all of their hard work to help me. I threw the deer shed I found on the dash of the truck, cranked the radio up and we were heading our 4 hours back east to the house.
Cowboy the dog, thinks he is a lap dog. He is such a lover and a little spoiled maybe.
Driving home just reminiscing our adventure of the weekend. Dodging tornado's on our way out there, visiting the Fojtasek Ranch and seeing all of our wonderful friends. A good 5 mile hike through the woods scouting for turkey and finding a deer shed. Dashboard time with my girls (sitting in the truck just talking) laughing, singing, and snacking. I am so thankful God has blessed me with all of the above. Until the next adventure...
